María Grazia Goya Barquet is a Cinematographer born in Ecuador, based in Barcelona and working internationally.

Her debut film as Cinematographer “From the Wild Sea” (directed by Robin Petré) premiered at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale). And it won the GRAND PRIX for Best Film at the Global Science Film Festival in Switzerland 2021.

“Calls from Moscow” (directed by Luis Alejandro Yero) had its world premiere at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival. Later having its North American premiere at The Museum of Modern Art - MoMA in New York. The film was awarded as Best Feature Length Film at IBAFF (Festival Internacional de Cine de Murcia) in Spain.

Her most recent project as Cinematographer,  “Only on Earth” (directed by Robin Petré) had its World Premiere at the 75th edition of Berlinale 2025.

Her work includes: “Duty Free” (directed by Hilke Rönnfeldt) which premiered at Göteborg Film Festival 2025. “Vaivén” (directed by Nisha Platzer) which won the Best Film Award at Alucine 2020. And “Ruth” (directed by Sonia Martí Gallego) which Premiered Internationally at Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival 2025 and won Best Short Film Award at Abycine 2024 and at Quartmetratges 2024 in Spain.

María was selected as one of the 12 emerging cinematographers at Berlinale Talents 2021.

She is an alumnus of DocNomads, the itinerant Master program in documentary. And a cinematography graduate from the Cuban film school EICTV.

She is an invited teacher at the DocNomads MA in Lisbon for the Cinematography workshop. And as a Cinematography mentor at the EICTV One-to-One program in Cuba.

María Goya Barquet es una Directora de Fotografía nacida en Ecuador, radicada en Barcelona y trabajando internacionalmente.
